Our colleagues are getting behind the ‘Be Kind to a Kid at Christmas’ toy appeal, helping bring a little extra joy to children and families across Suffolk this festive season.
At Vertas Group, making a difference isn't just about the work we do every day. It's also about finding ways to support the communities around us.
This Christmas, our colleagues are once again getting involved in the ‘Be Kind to a Kid at Christmas’ toy appeal, helping ensure more children across Suffolk have a present to open on Christmas morning.
Organised by BBC Radio Suffolk, Suffolk Community Libraries and Suffolk County Council, the appeal encourages local people to donate new toys for children and families who may otherwise go without.
Our Colleagues Making a Difference
As part of our ongoing partnership with Suffolk County Council, Vertas colleagues will help collect donated toys from participating libraries and support their distribution across the county.
Five electric vehicles will be used for collections, helping our teams support the appeal while reducing emissions.
It's a great example of how the skills, resources and commitment of our colleagues can make a positive difference beyond their everyday roles.
The appeal has already brought people together across Suffolk, with more than 2,500 toys donated in previous years to support children and families facing challenging circumstances.
Lee Johns, Head of FM at Vertas, said: "It's fantastic to be involved in the appeal once again. Each year we've seen it grow, thanks to the incredible support of people across Suffolk who always come together for a good cause.
"As a local business, giving back is incredibly important to us, and we're hopeful this will be the biggest and best year yet.
"We're also proud to be supporting the initiative with five electric vehicles for collections, helping to reduce emissions across the county. We'd urge anyone who can to donate, knowing their contribution will make a meaningful difference to children throughout Suffolk."
How You Can Get Involved
The appeal runs from 2 November to 4 December, with donations of new toys accepted at 12 participating Suffolk Community Libraries branches.
Organisers are particularly welcoming toys that are:
- Suitable for children aged 0–12
- New and unused
- Gender-neutral where possible
- Small enough to fit in a shoebox or gift bag
- Free from batteries, chargers or subscription requirements
The suggested value is between £5 and £10.

More Than Just the Day Job
From supporting local initiatives to helping the people and communities who rely on our services, our colleagues make a difference in many different ways.
And it's these moments, alongside the work they do every day, that help tell the story of what being part of Vertas Group is really about.
